As part of this project two footprinting dashboards were designed to enable dairy businesses of all sizes to quickly estimate major greenhouse gas emissions occurring on site and in their supply chains.

The footprint results are presented for the total facility as well as normalised per unit of output.

The numbers of inputs and variables have been reduced to those which have a significant impact on greenhouse gas emissions.  This simplification means that the dashboard will not deliver results of sufficient accuracy or detail to be used as basis for tracking emissions over time or in external communications (e.g. as part of environmental reports, advertising, etc). Instead the tool should be used as part of internal capacity building and to highlight where reduction efforts – and detailed monitoring – should be focused.
